Digital Occlusal Analysis vs Intraoral Scanner
Understanding the Difference Between Bite Function and Digital Impressions
How These Technologies Serve Different Purposes
Bite Function vs Digital Impressions for Restoration Design
In this video, Dr. James Oshetski, DDS, explains the difference between the T-Scan™ Digital Occlusal Analysis system and intraoral scanners. Both are valuable tools, but they serve different purposes. T-Scan™ measures bite force and timing in real time, showing how teeth contact and whether the bite is stable or imbalanced. Intraoral scanners capture a digital impression of the teeth and gums to support the design of restorations, but they do not measure force, timing, or muscle response.
